How can I filter on a list of 500+ email addresses in Outlook(2003)using rules - with msExchange (

Hi

What is the best way to filter out emails for a large list email
addresses when using the rules in Outlook(2003) with msExchance
(2008)?

I have about 45 rules, and I am trying to filter out emails from about
500 friends/acquaintances. The problem is that now that we have just
installed ms Exchange, it wont accept my rules. It now calls my rules
"Client only" and it keeps deactivating them.

The error message Outlook gives is: "...This could be because some of
the parameters are not supported or there is insufficient space to
store all your rules".

I tried putting all those people into a distrubution list, but Outlook
gives an error saying that my distribution list "is a personal
distribution list that may not be used with this feature. Would you
like to use the individual members of [listname] instead?"

Any suggestions?

What version of Exchange do you really use? There is Exchange 2007 and
Exchange 2010 but no Exchange 2008.

Exchange has a limit to the number of rules you can have. In Exchange 2003,
its 32KB but 2007 and 2010 have higher limits that are controlled by the
admin. See http://www.slipstick.com/rules/32kb.asp for more information.

Client based rules are created when the rule contains certain conditions -
it means the rule only runs when outlook is running. Server rules run on the
mailbox as mail is delivered to it. See
http://www.slipstick.com/rules/serverbased.htm for more information.
