Windows XP was installed and was working really well. Then
I installed Microsoft Office which was a older
version,'97. My email program went back to to OUTLOOK 97
also. I really messed up big time and deleted it. So I had
no email program. I placed the WIN XP disc back in
thinking it would replace the new Outlook program for me.
Now I am stuck with the install saying it cannot be
completed. The computer shuts down and then starts back up
to complete install all over again. I cannot get into my
windows desktop at all. How do I back out of install.
Escape will do nothing. Please help with any suggestions.

Try the System restore back to before you installed Office
97.

Just so you won't repeat your mistake: Reinstalling Windows XP (or any
version of Windows) will NOT upgrade or restore your version of Outlook,
since Outlook is not a part of the Windows distribution. To upgrade
Outlook, you must either upgrade your version of Office, or upgrade the
standalone version of Outlook.
