how to allow other users to edit my internet calendar?

R

Rijan

I have published an Outlook 2007 calendar online with my user log-in on my PC
with a restricted access.
It was a quick-fix method to allow other users on the PC to view mt calendar
without sharing all my emails etc [although would not be a complete disaster].

I know want to allow one of the users who has permission to view this
internet calnedar to be able to make changes to it from her Ooutlook so that
when it synchronises we both see the changes and in effect have a communal
"family" calendar.
User only has read-only permissions to my internet calendar. Is there any
way this can be changed?

HI
If I read that correctly it simply allows me to do the same thing as I am
currently doing but without having to publish to the internet [useful-
thanks!] but there is no mention or method to allow one of the other users to
be able to edit a calendar I publish locally so I seem to still have the same
limitation?

That method is a true shared calendar - it will allow other users to edit
it. (AFAIK....)

Thanks
I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
I nstalled IIS and made all the settings as described.
I click "publish to webdav", enter the URL http://mycomputer/calendar and it
then prompts me for a user name and passowrd.
I input the same user name [mine] and password I use to log into Windows but
it returns and error saying:
Upload of Calendar failed. Server returmed an error.

I don't understand what I am doing wrong.

And this is a calendar on a LAN? If it is, it won't have an address in that
format. It will be something like D:\mycalendar\calendar

It is on a single machine. I did not go down the route of adding a limited
user to make it available to the wireless network.
So it is just on my user profile on a standalone machine.
The link/article stated the address had to be in that format?

It has just occured to me.
The URL is for the LOCATION of the calendar. Do I have to move my personal
calendar from its usual store location into the virtual directory I have set
up using IIS first? It is not a step mentioned in any of the articles......

No. you install IIS (which you have done), then create a WEBDAV folder on
your local machine (which you have done), then in Outlook just publish your
calendar to the webdav folder...that's it. (It's a while since I did
this....) Whether you need to share the webdav folder to allow other users
ton access the calendar I can't remember..

when I try to type an address in none http:// format I get an error.
webdav folder is d:\calendar so tried both:
http://home/calendar [server error]
and d:\calendar [incorrect address format]

Have you started the IIS service? It certainly worked for me when I used
it....

Hi
Yes I have ensure the ISS Admin service is set to automatic and is started.
I am typing the address in the "location" box right after I click "publish
to webdav" I get a dialogue box saying location, type of details to publish
etc.
When I type the http there is a short "file transfer" type symbol then I get
asked for the username/password and after I input this the server fails
warning flashes up

Where are you trying to publish this calendar to? I think you need to
publish it to a folder on YOUR computer, and then share that folder.

I am trying it publish it to the d:\calendar folder which is the distributed
folder createed on my machine

On our windows 2003 server, when entering our user name we have to enter
domainname\username.... (it won't work with just username)

Also see this helpful article to ensure you have webdav and folder
securities setup correctly.
