How to Allocate Drive Space

E

Eric

Need help. I installed XP on my pc. Instead of it
deleting windows 98, it intalled as a partition all on
Drive D which is only 3gb. Now I keep getting low disk
space warnings for drive D. Windows 98 still resides (not
sure if it's on C or D), but when the computer first
boots up, it tells me to choose Win 98 or XP. So my
question is, how can I tell the computer to make drive D
6gb, and make drive C 6gb? Also, it won't let me remove
Win 98; Why? Thanks

1. With Windows cannot re-setup the HDD without losing all data. You
need a third-party tool like the Partition Manager for this.
2. To remove Windows 98: remove the related entry from the BOOT.INI
file. See "How to Edit the BOOT.INI File in Windows XP"
(http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=289022). Restart your computer,
then manually remove the Windows 98 files.
3. You may be better off by starting over: backup your personal data
files, re-partition the HDD and then clean-install Windows XP and your
applications. Now restore your data files.
