How to adjust the height of the Taskbar

P

PT

My new laptop's display makes it hard for me to read icons on the taskbar.
I recall that on an earlier computer, I had been able to double the height
of the taskbar and used large icons. However I've tried the obvious -
unlocking the taskbar and attempting to drag its top edge upwards, without
success. Any hints welcome.

Please help us to help you. What does "without success" mean. What happened
when you tried?

First, I right click in the taskbar to verify that it isn't locked. Next I
I move the insertion pont to the upper edge of the taskbar and get the
double headed vertical arrow. I then use it to try to drag the upper edge
of the narrow taskbar upward as follows:

First left click and drag, then right click and drag, then no click and
drag. But the upper edge doesn't move.

PT,

When you drag the the double headed arrow while holding the left click, did
you merely drag it up a few mm or did you drag it up 2 or 3 cm? You need to
drag it up high, otherwise it looks as if there is no response from the
taskbar.

Are you absolutely sure the task bar is unlocked when you try this? If so
try it again. Perhaps you didn't drag it far enough.

By the way, it's *left*-click and drag.

That was the answer for enlarging the taskbar. And to get larger icons, I
discovered that I can right click the taskbar, and select View | Laarge
icons. Thanks for the tip.
