How to adapt a US access template for UK easily

All of the access database templates are set up for US use. When I try to
adapt them for the UK, I end up with errors . Any advice gratefully received.

Tricia, can you give me some more information about your situation?

1) What version of Access are you running
2) What type of template files are you using (.accdt?)
3) How do you know you have US templates?
4) Are you getting the templates from OfficeOnline.com or from your local
computer?
5) What is the specific error you are hitting, and what are the exact steps
you follow before you see it?

The answers to these questions should help us to identify the problem here.

Don't get me wrong, the templates are brilliant, they just aren't really
suitable for UK users. Anyway, to answer your questions

1) Access version 2003
2) Orders Management database from the templates in microsoft.com
3) The currency is in $ and it has zip codes etc.
4) Getting the templates from Microsoft.com
5) The erroes occur when I go into design view for each table and form and
try to change the US terms for UK terms. Some of the changes work, but (and
it varies each time I start again cos it's gone wrong) a lot of them don't.
It's hard to be specific because I keep trying to make the changes
differently to see if it helps. I know I should have kept a log. Anyway, is
there a way to alter things en masse, or should I just keep trying different
things? Or is there spmewhere I can download templates suitable for th UK?

Hmm, we use the "currency" format for fields in that template. That is
supposed to pick up the locale of the current system. I'm curious whether
because this was a 2003 template (not 2007), it doesn't automatically set the
currency type when the database is created.

Here's my recommendataion:

1) close any database objects that are open
2) open your tables with currency fields (e.g. order details) in design view
3) change the format for those fields to something like Euro, then save,
then change back to currency and save.
4) Open the table in datasheet view.

Has the currency correctly change to pounds?

Then try opening your forms again.

exactly when things go wrong, and get back to you. Thanks for your help so
far, much appreciated.
