How the macros can be put to use in MS Word?

I want to learn how to create macros in MS Word, how to use them while
creating another word documents and how to remember the steps involved in
creating/recording macros. I did try to learn this from MS Word help but
frankly speaking, I couldn't understand much regarding how the macros can be
created and most importantly, how they can be used. Please help. Thanks!
