When I load a DVD the system automatically starts MS Media Player or Win
Explorer.

What's the key combination to press while loading the disc to prevent
anything from starting?

Start|Run, type "gpedit.msc" without the quotes, hit Enter.
In order, open Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System.
Go to Settings, scroll down and find Turn Autoplay off. Double click on
Enable (yes!). Click OK and you won't see Autoplay again.

Press and hold the shift while putting in the disc. Works in Win2000
