How stop automatic deletion of email?

Outlook 2003 has this nasty habit of deleting emails before I can read them.
I think it's part of the junk mail filtering, but I know some of them are
vaild: they're from me to me (same address on both sides). It's very
annoying. Any ideas how to stop this behavior?

Check the filter settings here: Actions menu > Junk E-mail > Junk E-mail

if it is junk email filtering, change the junk option to move to the junk
folder, not delete the messages.

Also make sure your View, Current View settings are set to All Messages, not
just Unread ones.

I just watched it happen again. I double checked the junk mail and view, as you kind folks suggested. I even added an external gmail address asa safe sender...and the email appeared, and was deleted without a trace. This is very annoying.
