Its not exactly the age. Its the copyright. Once the copyright expired (30
years usually) it can be distributed openly, unless it is renewed by the
original person.
 
Can a copyright be renewed again and again?

Originally it was a term of 20-something years, with a renewal of
somethingorother. Then (1970s?)it became lifetime of author + 50
years, then +75 years.

Basically it's a mess. You need a forum where people who specialize
in this hang out. Or you need a lawyer.
 
It depends on the speed of the network of the person uploading to PirateBay. ;)
