How many times can I install a legitimate windows XP Pro OS

I have a legitimate Windows XP Pro CD which I bought a couple of years ago
with my desktop. I am about to replace that desktop with a new one that I
built over the past few days, and was wondering if I can re-install the same
Windows XP OS (with the same CD key).

The old desktop will not be used anymore so I will be using only 1 XP OS at
a time. So it will be still legit.

Please advice.

The important issue, which you didn't specify, is whether the version of XP
is retail or OEM. Retail versions can be transferred. OEM versions, by the
license, are tied to the first computer on which it's installed and can't be
transferred, except if it is transferred with the computer as a unit. So is
your "legitimate Windows XP Pro" retail or OEM?

There is no limit to the number of times XP can be activated. Assuming you
have a retail version (the letters OEM are not part of the key code),
then all should work well for you. Let it try to activate online and if it
won't, call the phone number displayed in the error message. Phone
activations are common so it's no big deal. Have your key code handy when
you call.

I personally have moved OEM os numerous times and guess what NEVER been arrested for it.
