Re: Anti spyware, each program seems to have its own system restore just as
windows does.
Should all be activated or none and just depend upon windows?

I don't want conflicts, e.x. constant protection called by various names
like realtime or teatimer or active shield = only one should be on. I keep
the realtime protection in my Mcafee seurity suite on.

Thank you for your help

Personnally I only run anti spyware/malaware apps about once a month, they
rarely find anything.
But it might depend on your browsing habits as to whether you need to run
them frequently
Windows defender doesnt usually cause any conflicts, when allways on.

I don't mean that I run the different system restores built in to each
program like Spybot,Adaware ets. I just meant that I know Windows has a
restore point so was it necessary to let each program take their pictures
also.
If no conflict, I'm fine with all enabled but if there is a conflict, I'd
like to
have Windows system restore available to use in case of trouble.

I thought all of those programs just create a restore point with the built
in XP facility.

Usually these apps simply backup what you have removed with them so that if
neccessary you can undo the 'repair'.

You could only use windows restore if a restore point was made prior to
running the malaware app

It is a fine point whether Spybot, Adaware etc use their own system restore
point or if they create one on Windows system restore. I asked about the
difference so I'd know whether to enable this feature on these programs or
not.

They do not create their own restore point, they merely backup what you have
removed with them, to a location of your choice, so that you can reverse the
process
