Hi, I don't know where to post this question so posted here.
The question is that how long can I turn my computer on?
Sometimes I here that people leave their computer on for weeks!
Will not cpu get burned?

Most of mine are always on...

In the old days computers were always left on because the thermal
cycling would often cause a failure. Now days no one worries about
that anymore - but it is simply more convienient to always have it
ready to go.

It still is likely better to leave it on at constant tempurature than to
worry about component aging.

I leave mine on 24/7. I have adequate ventilation and cpu
fans, so I'm not concerned. Usually reboot after updating
system patches or after adding additional software.

I also run mine 24/7, all 15 of them! Some have been on for over 3
years, NON STOP! A few reboots here and there but NO time off!

I leave my home machine running all the time unless I will be away for
more than 24 hours. At work, our machines are never shut down except when
the hardware is repaired or upgraded. The shutdown option has been
disabled.

Leaving a computer turned on all the time will not hurt it and your
power company will thank you!

Good rule to follow:

If you're going to be gone for several hours or when you go to bed,
turn it off to save electricity AND, more importantly, when you're gone
a fan failure could damage your computer beyond repair and you'll not
know about it until too late.

So, you/ve never done a patch, or a maintenance reboot? I find that hard to
believe. I also don't want you as an admin in my backoffice.

I thank you all for clearing my doubt. Now I can leave my computer on for
more than 12 hours
without being afraid. I used to think I would harm my computer if I turned
it on for more than 12
hours and used to give it few hoours rest.
