That's a function of your network card and its driver. Go look at its
properties in Device Manager to see if you can disable disconnect during
screen saver. There might also be a power options tab. However, if you
are asking about a power mode (standby or hibernate), the NIC gets
powered down just like the rest because, well, it went into a low- or
no-power mode. There may be a BIOS setting to wake the computer on
network access, or a WakeOnLAN option in the device management
properties in Windows of the NIC. Could be you haven't bothered to
check the settings of your anti-virus or firewall software which might
have an option to disable the NIC when the screen saver activates, the
idea being that if you haven't been at the computer long enough to keep
the screen saver from activating then you don't want some malware using
your connection while you are absent.
