No, Dave, I'm not new to NG. I realize there will always be arguments, but I
prefer that they don't happen in my threads, especially when I'm really in
need of help. I run my business from my computer, as I know a lot of people
do. When it isn't working properly, it's costing me money:-/ I need posts
that help right now - not ones that add to my frustration.

Rant over....:-)
Pamela
then hire a consultant, Pam! If your issue is that dire, pay someone.
You DO, after all have a business.

Pamela
and to add to my last post...

so basically u are saying your time is more valuable than anyone
else's? Posters here are for your convenience? If your issue is so
hampering your business get on the phone with MS or a consultant so that
you won't waste your precious and unique to you time and money.
methinks you are a cheapskate, frankly. I doubt u will let loose with a
dollar to solve your problems. just a hunch, from your attitude....

Dave

Oh yes.. jupiter bores you to death... gesh is his posts boring...

I could take his crap as long as it was more fun... now not only he says
stupid things, but they are darn right the most boring posts I have ever
seen on earth!

Perhaps his style comes from jupiter, a planet mostly gas....

Vista /w 2gb of RAM runs much much faster than XP with the same amount of
RAM. My 2gb laptop got a big kick in the pants when I installed Vista. I
suspect Superfetch is the reason. Visual Studio opens in 3 seconds in Vista
while it took 10+ seconds in XP.

Having said that, file operations (copy/move) are slower... but that's
because of shadow copy. I can live with that... because the "previous
versions" shadow copy feature has saved me already once.

Don't try to put words in my mouth. I didn't say that, nor did I imply it.
I've always been able to get help with Vista issues from this forum, and
quite frankly, I like to have someone explain to me how to resolve a problem
rather than having someone else do it for me. You're so busy criticizing and
making judgments about me when you have no clue who I am or what I do, that
you aren't even trying to help solve the problem. So, if you aren't here to
help, why ARE you here?

If I'm a cheapskate for asking for help on this board, that would make
everyone else here a cheapskate, too - which isn't the case. I guess your
mommy never told you, "If you can't say something nice, keep your freakin'
mouth shut."

I think you are perceiving that some things seem faster. Overall, the
win goes to XP by all knowledgeable accounts. I am not happy with MS
for foisting Vista on the PC buying public.

ah, there's that bossy attitude u displayed earlier!
You missed my point--IF your business is losing money due to problems
with Vista, than do the professional thing--seek professional (ie
costly) help. IF your problems are so earth shatteringly important, a
smart person would do what it takes to resolve it. ever heard of free
advice being worth what u paid for it? I still think you are a
cheapskate. just an opinion. I've been wrong before, so theres still
hope that u arent what u seem....

Along with everything else, have you run diagnostics on the memory:
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Also run a diagnostic on the hard drive.
Possibly available from Toshiba or the manufacturer of the hard drive.

If after that and everything else you have tried it still fails to
perform to your expectations, it may be time to contact Toshiba.
How long have you had the laptop?

As a member of the buying public...don't represent me anymore.
I hereby dismiss you ... as do most free thinking individuals

Ah, you mistake being "direct" as being "bossy." Bet you wouldn't say that if
I were male, but that's a whole different argument.

You missed my point - I have the time to resolve my own problem (with help);
what I don't have is time for is arguing about nothing. What purpose does it
serve? With all the judgmental crap you've already posted for me, you
could've helped me solve my computer issues.

As I already said, if I'm a cheapskate for asking for advice here, so is
everyone else who asks a question instead of calling a consultant. I think
it's safe to say you aren't a business owner.

I still think you are jerk. Just an opinion. I've been wrong before, but I
don't think this is one of those times.

LOL! as with most arguments, it started because of an attitude. You
told the group to stop arguing in YOUR thread. big mistake! and its
all downhill from there...

oh, and the bossy thing? your sex was not a determinant in my comment.
YOUR attitude was provoked my bossy comment. its not a sexist thing.
what you have done now is to display a chip on your shoulder about being
female
around some guys. get over yourself. u aren't being singled out for
being female--just for being pushy.

Another very typical post from you.
Those able to succeed where you fail are called "mind-turned-to-much
vistaboys".
You seem unable to post with out your common attacks on others.

Now Jupiter, you know he doesn't have enough intelligence/experience to be
able to load, tweak, and get it running well. Seems to me he is jealous of
us that HAVE gotten it to run. That or he's just a smacktard. Take your
pick...hehehe

Just tell him if he wants his Vista to run faster he needs to throw it
harder.
