However since Beta is unfinished, issues are more likely and sometimes
expected.
One should plan Beta installation differently because of the inherent
risk of Beta.
Also most software does not have a time bomb, this beta does.

Also, just curious, why the hate? Jupiter posted two legitimate responses in
this thread and you followed along with at first glance appears to be some
kind of agenda.

calm down! I didn't read all the posts. therefore I asked a question.
folks are free to respond to my question or ignore it as they see fit.
Thank you much for answering.

Did you read my post?
Did you read the post I replied?
Apparently not.

Here it is part:
"Backup data, format HD, install XP."
So the answer to your question is Yes.

Please do not read into my post what is not there and the message may

Silly me.

IMO, telling beta testers to back up is like telling someone about to
play in traffic to be sure to wear a raincoat if it rains.

Dave

Vista is a beta quality product... you know that dont you? Or are you one of
those mind-turned-to-much vistaboys?

"you are the only clear-thinking individual"
I NEVER suggested any such thing.
That is entirely your own idea.

OK, if some of you want to argue, please don't use my thread to do it. I
really, really need people who want to help.

Thanks,
Pamela

Another very typical post from you.
Those able to succeed where you fail are called "mind-turned-to-much
vistaboys".
You seem unable to post with out your common attacks on others.

Slow is a relative term, but Vista should run comparable to XP if
certain conditions are met. First, you need to make sure you have
the latest drivers for your primary hardware ( Video, Network &
Sound ). Second you need to verify the machine is not logging a
large number of errors in the System & Application Event logs. A
cursory Chkdsk of your System drive is also a good diagnostic
tool. Beyond those any slowness could be due to any software on
the machine ( 3rd-Party, specifically Security based ). The drive
should be defragmented as well. It's a fairly methodical process to
fine-tune a Windows machine but is something most people can do.

ah, if you REALLY know the secret of getting Vista to run as fast as XP
you would become an overnight millionaire. Go for it.

No, Dave, I'm not new to NG. I realize there will always be arguments, but I
prefer that they don't happen in my threads, especially when I'm really in
need of help. I run my business from my computer, as I know a lot of people
do. When it isn't working properly, it's costing me money:-/ I need posts
that help right now - not ones that add to my frustration.

Rant over....:-)
