What chance of complete success do I have if I decide to return to
SP1? If I decide to do it, can I 'simply' use Add/Remove Programs,
which I see contains an SP2 entry?

A lot of people I know have done this and it worked just finne for them.

Hi Terry

That is the best to uninstall SP2 - via Add/Remove Programs.

How I can turn to sp1 if I have a WindowsXP HOME with embedded sp2 ?

Hi

If you performed a 'Clean' install with a slipstreamed SP2 CD, then you
can't go back to SP1/1a - only if you upgraded. In which case there should
be an entry in Add/Remove Programs to uninstall SP2.

Other problems emerged, plus general instability. So I did decide to
revert to SP1. Used the Add/Remove route, and appears to be running OK
again. I did also clean up a bit afterwards using Norton WinDoctor.

Terry,

I removed SP2 and my system back to work OK. With SP2 the login process was
7 minutes, now with SP1 is 1 minute.

Yes, must say it's a *great* relief to be back to normal!

With hindsight, I reckon I was over-influenced by the WU message
urging me to click for this 'critical upgrade'. Won't do that again.

How long do you propose to wait before giving it another go?

I'll wait Microsoft publish an Official Note (ex. I'm sorry for it!) or
another version of service pack (ex. Service Pack 2a).

Maicon.

Thank you for your help.
I checked all and I find no problem with the hardware or software
compatibility.

Without SP-2a, only ramins wait for correction for this problem. Is
inadimissible wait 7 minutes to Login (after put my password) on a LAN.

Maicon.
