Dear all,

I'm wondering since a bunch of months how the E-mail "Display as" field
works. In see at least two different formats in use in this field:
- E-mail address
- Full Name (E-mail address)

I have a customer who is embarrassed by the format used by her Outlook
(E-mail address only): she has a Distribution List and when she opens the
list she sees two columns: Name and E-mail. They both display the E-mail
address which is not easy for her as some contacts have unidentifiable
E-mail addresses (eg: (e-mail address removed)).

My question are thus:
- How can I keep this "Display as" field displaying the format "Full Name
(E-mail)"?
- Is there a way to stop Outlook (or any other process - heard ActiveSync
could be blamed) updating the format of this field?
- Is there a way to do a "mass update" of all my contacts to meet the
preferred format?

Many thanks in advance for your help,

Ambroise Nève

How the Email Display As field is configured is a property of the Outlook
version, which you failed to mention. You cannot control that display other
than my modifying it directly within the Contact Record. This field is of no
consequence. What makes you think it is?

Thanks for your answer and sorry for forgetting to mention the Outlook
version (in this case 2003, but 2007 seems to have the same behavior). The
"Display as" field shows under the "Name" column in a ditribution list so if
I only have the E-mail address in there, it's not very usefull :)
Anyways, thanks,
Ambroise

I suspect you can do this with code (you can ask in a programming group) and
I know there are some third party utilities out there that will do this.
