Have been using Outlook 2000 for a long time, but have never backed it up and
am scared to death. I would like to perform a backup and after I have all
data stored, I would like to transfer all my data into Outlook 2003. Can
anyone assist me?

Thanks.

Hi Roger,
I undestand your concern,

You can export all you mailbox, contacts, calender etc. by going to Files >
Import / Export > Export to a file > Personal folder file (pst)

And then on your Outlook 2003 you do allmost the same Files > Import /
Export > Import from another program or file > Personal folder file (pst)

Bad idea as this will not create a proper backup and is a not-needed time
consuming process.

You can make a backup of your Outlook data by making a copy of your
pst-file.
As pst-file are native to Outlook, you can directly connect to them instead
of importing it.

Its not advisable to use Export/Import for native outlook data, it loses
both data & settings, as posted here many times.

To backup data merely locate the outlook data files, search to include
hidden for *.pst
With Outlook closed copy them to another location
In outlook 2003, File>Open>Personal Folders..........browse to the pst and
open it

PS MS outlook site has a free outlook backup addin
