How do you turn off VBA-Selection.Paste?

Guest

When I paste in MS word 2002 I see Undo VBA-Selection.Paste under my Edit
menu. BUt I never selected this type pf paste or macro or whatever it is.
ALso, even though my SHow PAste OPtion button selection is on under the Edit
tab of OPtions I DONT GET THE OPTION BUTTON when I paste unless I select
Paste Special and then do soemthing like html or RTF. Furthermore, when I
paste a graphic I usually cant edit it or have problems.

What is this VBA-Selection.Paste, how do Iget rid of it and why did it ever
get turned on??

Did not have these problems until this %$#&* VBA-Selection.Paste appeared
and there is no help or anything in MS site (AS USUAL!) realted to my problem!

Hi =?Utf-8?B?RnJlZCBaYWNr?=,

This isn't typical Word behavior. It sounds very much to me as if you have an
Addin that's interfering with the paste command. If you hold down CTRL when you
start Word it should go into Safe Mode, locking out anything that's not part of
Word's installation default. Do you still see the problem when in Safe Mode?

same problem

Hello,

I am having the same problem. When I start Word in safe mode, the problem is over, so it is probably caused by some addin...
The addins that I have installed are Adobe Acrobat and Mathtype. How can I disable each of these addins seperately to check if it's one of those which give the problems? Personally I doubt it is one of these addins, because I couldn't find much other people with the same problem on google.

I hope someone can help me, because this is a very annoying problem!

This will depend on whether these are template Addins, COM Addins, or
Addins created using .NET.

In Word: Tools/Options/File locations. Check the location for the
Startup folder. Some types of addins could be in this location. What do
you see here?

Tools/Customize/Commands. From the Tools category, drag "COM Addins" to
your Tools menu. Close the dialog box. Click on the command in the
Tools menu. Is anything listed here?

Hi Cindy M -WordMVP-,

Thanks for your reply.

The Startup folder is empty
In the COM addins I see "microsoft word east european fonts tool", the checkbox is unchecked and it is set to load on demand. The addin file is EEFONTS.DLL located in the Microsoft Office directory in Program Files

So nothing strange I guess?.....

In that case, we may be dealing with an Addin that's been configured to
NOT show up in the COM Addins list. (Keep in mind that it may not be an
addin at all, but some other software) That means you'll need to check
in the Registry.

1. START button/Run. Type in: regedit

2. After you run that, the Registry Editor opens.

3. Drill down the path
HKEY_Current_User/Software/Microsoft/Office/Word/Addins

You'll probably see the WordEEFonts listed again. Anything else?

I don't see the WordEEFonts. The Addins folder is empty, but contains a subfolder 'PDFMaker.OfficeAddin' with a number of keys. I disabled the addin by changing the value of LoadBehaviour from 8 to 0 (found that on the internet). The PDF addin is then succesfully disabled, but the problem stays. So it is probably not due to the PDF addin.

I couldn't disable the Mathtype addin so I just uninstalled the whole Mathtype application. This solved the problem! :)
Unfortunately I need Mathtype to type in mathematical formulas so I am going to try and install it again and see if the problem appears again. I'll let you know.

Thank you very much for your help!

I re-installed Mathtype version 5.2a (which should work with MS Office 2003) and the problem occured again.
So it is a result from this software and I am going to contact the developer and hope there will be a solution for this problem.
