In the add and remove software from the control panel I see several programs
that are no longer on my PC.

An example of this is AOL, when I click remove it launches a screen stating
it is looking for AOL versions on my PC. When it is finished it states there
are no versions of AOL on this PC.

How do I get rid of these programs?

Thanks

TweakUI has a function which will remove obsolete items from the
Add/Remove Programs list.

Greetings --

Sadly, the only practical way I've ever found to _completely_
remove AOL from an operating system is to format the hard drive and
perform a clean installation. It takes a lot less time than
manually removing/replacing all of the Windows system files that AOL
replaces with their own versions and the hundreds of registry entries.
