How do you NOT use the Movie Maker that comes with Vista?

Here's my problem. For my purpose I need to use the 2.6 (looks like the XP
version) version that runs on Vista - not the one that comes with Vista. But
the dv camera will not recognize the 2.6 version. Is there anyway to
uninstall the newer version or default to the 2.6? The new Vista Movie Maker
just makes the files way to big for what I need - makes uploading very time
consuming and frustrating. The XP or 2.6 makes the files the size I need.

So basically is there anyway to default to 2.6 - the camera is always
wanting to open the new one.

Thanks.

2.6 is a stripped down version of Movie Maker and it doesn't have a feature
to capture from a camera/camcorder.

You have to use the Vista capture wizard, MM6 in Vista, or other software to
do the initial importing.

2.6 is the Vista version.

2.1 is the Windows XP SP2 version.

See PJ's reply about the Vista version's limitations.
