How do you make a checkbox work in Excel?

I need to create checkboxes in a worksheet. I have the icon inserted. How
do I make the checkbox work? I need to be able to email the worksheet out,
and have someone else choose between certain fields by checking a box...

Thanks for any help
 
When you say the icon do you mean from the forms menu or from elsewhere.
If elsewhere the way to do it is from the Excel main menu select
View>Toolbars>Forms then use the checkbox button from there.

If this doesn't work post back exactly whats going wrong.
