How do you format an old HDD? I hav an old system disk I
would like to use as a spare. When I put it in the
computer the computer does not boot properly. Can you
format from the Win XP disk? Please help.

If the computer isn't booting, it's a hardware problem, not software, so
formatting isn't going to solve anything. The first thing to check is that
the jumpers settings are correct.
