How do you fix a Device Timeout I/O message?

I continually receive a pop-up message stating: "The specified I/O operation
on \Device\Harddisk1\DR2 was not completed before the time-out period
expired." Since I never specified anything I have no idea what the machine
is saying. What must i do to eliminate the constant interruption?

Does it matter if Outlook is running? What happens if you exit out of Outlook
and just work for a while, do you get the error?
