How do you delete items in recycle bin?

Can anyone help. I am returning my laptop to work and want toensure certain
documents are permantely deleted.
 
Right-click on it and choose Empty.

Did you have no training at all in how to use the computer?
 
I always wonder how people are able to find these newsgroups (well it
is a totally wrong one in this case but still) while not having basic
knowledge on how to operate their computer.

If you really want to ensure that documents are permanently deleted,
emptying the recycle bin is not going to do the trick. There are
dozens of undelete programs out there which recover files that you
thought you deleted permanently. If you are security aware/paranoid,
you might give the free open-source Eraser tool (http://www.heidi.ie/
node/6) a shot.

From a "security" point of view, emptying the recycle bin doesn't
really prevent people from recovering files if they really want to.
