How do you cancel automatic send/receive w/Outlook 2003 when connected to a LAN

Hello,

When you are connected to a LAN, how on earth do you cancel the
automatic send/receive?

None of these changes work:

1) Send/Receive Settings > Disable Scheduled Send/Receive


2) Options > Mail Setup > Send/Receive > (I've tried every setting here
from selecting a schedule send/receive every 10 mins to canceling any
scheduled send/receive for my group.

Nothing works when I'm at work and connected to the LAN. There is an
automatic send/receive less than any minute no matter what setting I
choose.

I have to believe there is some way around this. I'd like to schedule
it only every 5 mins when connected to the LAN.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
