How do you boot setup from cd

Guest

I'm trying to reformat my whole computer but I can't run the installation
through windows cause it said that I'm currently using a newier verison so I
have to restart my computer and from startup the setup "should" boot up.
Hopefully I make some sense right now, the problem I'm having is that the CD
setup won't boot it just keeps going on loading to my windows when I want it
to load the setup on dos. Cause since I can't install in windows, can anyone
help me plz.

The Windows XP CD is bootable and contains all the tools necessary
to partition and format your drive. Follow this procedure and allow
Windows XP to partition and format your drive:

NOTE: It would be best to physically disconnect all your peripheral hardware
devices, except the monitor, mouse and keyboard, before installing XP.

NOTE: If you have an internal Zip Drive installed, physically disconnect the
EIDE and power cable to it before proceeding, otherwise your main
hard drive may not be assigned the customary C: drive letter.
After installing Windows XP, you may then reconnect it.

1. Open your BIOS and set your "CD Drive as the first bootable device".

2. Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and reboot your computer.
3. You'll see a message to boot to the CD....follow the instructions.
4. The setup menu will appear and you should elect to delete all the existing
Windows partitions, then create a new partition, then format the primary
partition (preferably NTFS) and proceed to install Windows XP.

5. Clean Install Windows XP

6. ==> Immediately after installing Windows XP, turn on XP's Firewall.

7. After Windows XP is installed, visit the Windows Update website
and download the available "Critical Updates".

8. After installing the critical updates, be sure and visit the support website
of the manufacturer of the computer to download and install any
available Windows XP compatible drivers, such as video adapter
and audio drivers.

9. If you happen to run into any installation difficulties, use the following resources:

You need to set the bios to boot from the cdrom. Enter the bios at startup
(usually by pressing the DEL key) and find the boot order it should show
hard drive, cdrom, floppy disk, reset it so that the cdrom is first.

Your computer's BIOS should have a setting determining the boot order
of your system. Methods of entering the BIOS setup vary, but there is
usually a key you have to press when you first start your machine that
will take you there. Look for a message when you first turn it on.

Once in the BIOS setup, change your boot order so that CD-ROM is
listed before your hard drive. Save your changes and reboot.

You should now be able to boot from your CD.

Try going into set up (F2) and make the CD-Rom first in the boot sequence.
Then reboot and repeatedly press F8 as the PC comes up. You should see a
prompt, "Do you want to boot from CD". Then press any key

Did i understand the problem?.
