how do you alphabetize files within a folder?

My word and excel files had been in alphabetical order, and now they're not.
Can anyone tell me how to alphabetize them, and see that each new file I save
is alphabetized?

That's normally a Windows function, rather than a Word function.

What view are you using in the folder? If you're in the "Details" view, just
click on "Name." If you're in some other view, change to "Details," click on
"Name," and then change back to the view you prefer.

Change the file>open dialog to show the Details view, then click the header
at the top of the column you wish to sort by. Restore your preferred view.
