How do you allow a program in Defender?

When I open "allowed items" it only lets me remove programs and there are no
programs listed to remove. When I open "software explorer" the program I want
to allow is not listed in any of the four categories. The program I want to
list is Money 2007. I downloaded and installed this program but it won't open
because it doesn't recognize that I'm online. An MS technician thinks
Defender is not allowing it to log in. So he said make sure Money is added to
the list of allowed programs and is given full access. Sounds like a good
idea, but how do I get Defender to allow a program that is not showing up in
any of its lists.

Sounds more like there is a firewall in the way. Are you using a third-party
(i.e. not Windows) firewall?

No, I'm using Defender only. But I found solution. Defender blocked part of
the file that I downloaded. I unblocked the file and re-loaded the program.
Now it works.
