How do you add the equation editor to your main toolbar

Open the Tools > Customize dialog. On the Commands tab, click the Insert
category in the list on the left. Scroll the list on the right, about 2/3 of
the way down, and find the Equation Editor item. Drag its icon to your
toolbar and drop it where you want it. Close the dialog.

Tools > Customize, select the Commands tab and choose Edit. Locate the
Equation Editor button and drag to your Standard toolbar.
 
I should have said Tools > Customize, select the Commands tab and select
Insert (not Edit), then find the Equation editor button and click and drag it
to your Standard toolbar.
