How do we rename and set permissions to repair the Shared
Documents folder?

Afer running the SiPix Camera Wizard for the first time
the folder «Shared Documents» was renamed to «Documents».
The technicians at FaxLink Peripherals, Inc. deny their
software is responsible, claiming it is Arc Soft's fault.
The assert that PhotoImpression caused the problem.

This program was already installed, and ran without
anything like this occuring before.

Oddly enough their (SiPix) installer didn't notice the
previously installed copy (same verion number) of the
program. Nor
did the "XP-compatible" PhotoWizard (SiPix) recognize the
multi-user file structure, adding the folder «My Camera»
to the (new) shared folder «Documents». This makes no
sense. It is my camera; it is not shared. Why would it
not be called «Shared Camera», then?

Right before the change the log shows an unsigned driver
installed by the SiPix camera wizard. Perhaps the
problem? I intend to use this sofware only on the
old Win98 machine. This seems to be the type of
directory organization it is expecting.

Errors with write permission from user accounts, registry
errors like:

Sound recorder: Error updating registry.

ColorDeskPhoto:"Error updating registry.
Please try using regedit."

"Access to C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Documents\My Pictures\At_Max's.jpg was denied."

File permissions are not set to shared, but the start
menu list it as the shared documents folder.

Q: Would the registry troubles be fixed if the
programs were run with the accounts set to
administator status?

I thought that renaming it would solve the issue.

From the cmd prompt:

cd "c:\documents and settings\all users\documents"
move documents "Shared Documents"

But the start menu couldn't find any folder. It didn't
work. After things were reversed teh folder appeared as
before.

I thought that this might work:

From «Set Program Access and Defaults»:

1. Remove from start menu.

Q1: Should I remove any access permissions first?

From the cmd prompt:

2. Rename the directory/folder by move.

From «Set Program Access and Defaults»:

3. Add to start menu.

4. Also, I should set permissions: Read/Write:All Users.

Q: How is this done on the Home edition? Is it on
the program access interface used to define the
start
menu (etc)?
Does this cover setting up the shared documents
folder:

I've been through the MS Knowlege Base articles and
helpfiles but have no definite answer to this problem.

Please advise as to the likely outcome of the proceedures
above. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you,
