Is there a way to make Powerpoint less "user friendly", I feel that I am
continuoulsy fighting the default settings and "automatic adjustments"
epecially with graphs and charts.

If you want to make changes to any of the default settings in PowerPoint 2007
you need to access the Options to do so. The PowerPoint button is located at
the bottom of the window you see when you click the Office Button. Click the
PowerPoint Options button to make changes to any of the default settings of
the program.

In 2007, you can save chart templates. After doing the formatting, select the
chart, display the Chart Tools Design tab, click the Save Template button,
and save. Next time, you can choose Templates when you specify a chart type
and you'll find your template there. If I'm understanding you correctly, this
should save you a lot of formatting!

Chart templates definitely save formatting time!

Be aware that the chart templates do not respond to themes -- they are what
they are. So if you use a different color scheme often, you'll want to
create a chart template to go with each color scheme.

Also, I find that I often lose my data completely if I try to apply a chart
template to an existing chart. You definitely want to Insert Chart, choose
your saved template, and then add your data rather than applying the chart
template to your already-created chart.
