How do MSword03 users read/open the MSword07 docs?

When I send word2003 users files they are unable to read/open the files
without first upgrading to word2007.

Anyone experienced this problem yet? It is causing lot's of problems for me
and my work. Surprised MS doesn't have a convert button to read the file in
2003. If that's the case I certainly wouldn't have upgraded until it was
more widely used.

There is a compatibility pack that they can download that will allow them to
open the file. My personal belief is that you shouldn't "require" someone to
download a program to read a file if you can prevent it. It's just as easy
to save that Word file as a Word 97-2003 format.

Why would Word have a convert button to convert for use in an application
with a different file format developed four years later?
There is a converter available that can be added to Word 2003 but as you
have no control over what the recipients of your documents have available -
nor should you require them to download additional software to read your
work - you should send the documents in a format they can read, in this case
Word 97-2003 format, available from your save as dialog.
