there names in the to box only one of my contacts will do this how do i get
the others to do the same regards james

Windows Mail auto-completes from a separate list of 29 addresses you type
in, not from your contacts. This list is stored in the registry.

To retrieve addresses from your contacts folder, click on the "To: " button.

This is one of the features that works properly in the newer Windows Live
Mail.

Stan...
Sometimes it's just as difficult to read these threads in the sites in an nntp client or one that mirror this newsgroup when one
responds to a post and fails to include any of the prior content which may also enhance those other people's benefit.

If you wanna start playing Netiquette Nanny here, at least get your Vista
box fully patched, Stan.

It is not a matter of netiquette; it is a matter of getting help. It is in
the best interest of people requesting assistance that they make their
subject as relevant as possible. I became sensitive to the problem when I
was answering questions in the CodeGuru Visual C++ forum. That forum is (at
least was) too active for me to look at all questions. People that used
subjects such as "Help Me" are often overlooked.

Certainly it is difficult to create a subject that is relevant and concise,
but it often can make the difference between a good answer and no help. In
this newsgroup, there are a very few people like you that can answer most
questions and it seems all questions are read by one of you. If either of
those were not true then the subject could be critical.

I have said something similar many times in other groups.

The message will be more effective if you not make it a criticism and
instead attempt to make it clear that you are trying to help the person get
help. Also, it really helps to post messages such as this only in groups
that you are active in. In the recent past, the name "Stan Starski" first
appeared four days ago in this newsgroup requesting assistance with "How to
save a complete thread in Newsgroups, NOT message by message.". Everything
else from Stan Starski appears to be criticisms. Try to provide some useful
assistance that is not criticisms before being critical. If you can't then
the criticisms do not help either.
