How do I ???

I have an input screen containing 5 contact names.
When the user enters these or changes them I want to create/update a further
field on my table that is a memo field made up of the 5 contact names. This
field is going to be used later on in the application and is not on the
above input screen.
Can anyone give me an idea on how I can do this please and at what stage
e.g. Before Update, After Update etc of each of the 5 contact names or is
there a better way?
