How do I get Disk Cleanup working again? All of a sudden
my disk cleanup program stopped working. It either does
one of two things. It either starts and then hangs at
scanning old compressed files and does not go past this
point or it will not start running at all. Any help in
the resolution of this problem will be greatly
apprecaited.

Try the following web sites:

the right-hand window, click on "Disk Cleanup - Compress Old Files Freezes"

Simply click on Kelly's fix, download the registry fix, then run it

I had the same problem and I had to reinstall XP because other programs were not working as well. I don't think this is the easiest answer though. After reinstalling it, it works fine now.
