I have just upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate and can't uninstall Sonic
DLA.I did run the Vista advisor and it told me that it might have some minor
compatibillty issues after upgrading to Vista. So now its doesn't work and I
cant find how to remove it from my Vista Ultimate OS system so i can put in
the new Sonic one thats compatable.Does anyone have any ideas as how to fix
this?

Thank you

You uninstall Sonic DLA prior to upgrading your computer. Why? Because the
entire application that installed it (likely some version of Roxio) is not
Vista compatible.

I ended up reinstalling Vista to get rid of it. It hooks deeply into the
operating system internals and is not easy to manually remove.

Hey Astro,

I bought a new pc that had it preinstalled so I ended up uninstalling it
because I don't need to burn cds on that pc... figure I can reinstall it
later when I do need it. Anyways, what I found is that there were about 5 or
6 roxio programs but if I remember correctly you can just delete the one
program that does the drag and drop cd burning and the rest should work
fine.

I found out that tip after I already removed the program so it's worth a
shot.

You are best off doing a fresh install which is what I did. Otherwise, call
up either Lenovo or Microsoft. With Microsoft Retail Vista has 90 free
telephone and email support.

David thanks for the info about the 90 day support.I went to Roxio's web site
and they are aware of this problem, people get a driver not compatable message
and they are working on this matter. However they say the cause is a Microsoft
Update (KB929427) and if you just remove it for the time being you wont get
the annoying message, and I did that and it works. But I really dont want to
do a clean install but I may have to,because I have already bought the Vista
compatable Roxio Easy Media Creator 9.I also did get the Sonic DLA
uninstalled just by removing the Windows update, but the rest of the program
is still there, and wont uninstall.WOW what a mess this Vista has been so
far.I can install that update later after its fixed.

Visit the Roxio web site, they have an uninstaller and info on what to
delete from the Registry.

My advice is, don't. It's probably not written for Vista and you don't need
it anyway because you can all the same stuff in Vista withoug installing
DLA. If you install DLA you'll probably just create a world of headaches for
yourself and lose all the built-in CD and DVD burning capabilities.

Learn how to do CDs and DVDs in Vista and forget about all those old XP
programs.

Simply go to Control Panel\Programs & Features then Uninstall Roxio Drag &
Drop. That will clear up that Sonic error message everyone's been getting.

I installed it and it works fine with Vista.

Which version Sonic DLA are you using with Vista?

I use v4.95 for my HP and it has always worked great with my XP (and
98 before that). I got it as a download patch from HP support.
However, the Vista advisor program I ran to see what components might
be incompatible w/Vista suggested I uninstall my DLA prior to
installing any Vista version.

I haven't installed Vista yet, for I'm trying to figure out how to do
a dual install of both Business and Home Premium versions on my hdd (I
know I have to create a partition), but...I would like to keep some
version of Sonic DLA since it works great for my purposes.

I've not seen any Vista dedicated Sonic DLA version at the HP website
yet.

Erh! The one from the Dell site - the one we are discussing here. It's on my
computer right now as a stand alone application.

Sorry...didn't see any reference to Dell or any other OEM.
Nevertheless, my Sonic DLA is also a stand alone version and works
with various other OEMs (ie., my daughter's Gateway notebook and
wife's Sony desktop). Is your DLA that works with your Vista a Dell-
dedicated app? Even if it is, do you know the version? I might be
willing to try it in with my son's Vista Ultimate on his HP.

Thanks!

Made by Roxio, available on the Dell web site - as the apps that Dell ships
have problems.
