How do I uncompress compressed Jpeg images?

My family send me photos which have been compressed to reduce their file
size. How do I uncompress them to see the original photo size and quality?
Picture Manager supposedly has an 'Undo compress picture' facility in the
Edit menu but I can't find it ...
