How do I turn off the delete confirmation?

When I select text and try to delete it using the "Delete" key an anoying
message appears in the status bar asking me if I want to delete the block,
forcing me to hit the "Y" key.

How can I turn this off? Really, when I hit the delete key, that's what I
want. There's no chance it's a typo.

In Word, click on Tools | Options | General | uncheck the two
boxes for WordPerfect help and navigation | OK.
