How do I take a read only document and put it into another word d.

I have a read only document and I need to put it into word document for my
portfolio. I can't copy it. How can I put it in there?
 
Is this a Word document? (Does the file name end in an extension like .doc,
..dot, .docx, etc.?) Normally, if a Word document is protected as read only,
you can either use Save As to save it under a different name or copy the text
and paste it into a new document.

If it's not a Word document, what kind of document is it? What kind of file
extension is on the file name?
