How do I sync with an offline .pst containing contacts?

I am running Office Outlook 2003 with SP1 in a domain environment using
Exchange. My Contacts appear on the Exchange server under my username. I
would like to store my contacts offline, on my local machine in a .pst file
with high encryption for security. I have the .pst file view opened in
Outlook and I can see all the contacts just fine. However, I am trying to
get ActiveSync 3.8 to sync with those offline contacts. How can I designate
the offline .pst as the default contacts location so that I can sync them
with my PocketPC?

Thanks!

IIRC, ActiveSync can only synchronize your default Contacts folder, which would be the one in your Exchange mailbox.

I appreciate the reply. So, it seems like I might find the answer in an
Activesync newsgroup? Too bad Outlook 2003 doesn't let you change the
default Contacts location.

Dear bhall007,

have a look on this site:
http://www.slipstick.com/addins/olpda.htm

we tested XTNDconnectPC to synchronise also "not default" PST files with
Palm and PDAs.

I think they will have a 30 days trial version. There also other programs
listed on slipstick that supports "not default" PST files (e.g. Lookout or
Intellisync).

So it CAN be done! Thanks Oliver for the post, I'll look into XTNDconnectPC.

Too bad there isn't a demo version available to test it out as it costs $60.
If you are aware of any other products that let you do this, please post.
Thanks!

Actually, another user posted in the ActiveSync newsgroup and I found the
following tool does exactly this and it works wonders. It's called
Intellisync. Microsoft should buy Intellisync and incorporate it into
ActiveSync. Here is his post:
Hi,
ActiveSync synchronizing with the PC defaults to the default folder for
calendar and contacts. If you need to specify the folder to sync, I suggest
that you look at Intellisync from www.pumatech.com [also www.intellisync.com]
