How do I suppress repeated emails?

When I download email using Outlook, some email that I know has been sent
only once by a single user (family member) or I assume only once by unknown
SPAM senders, I often must delete multiple copies of the email. This also
happens when I tag the email as SPAM. Even tagged, it appears again. Is
there a way to prevent this from happening in Outlook?

What version of Outlook do you have? Do you have the "leave on server"
setting set for the account? When this happens, do you only get one
message again, or all the messages you just received?
