When I receive emails from unknown senders I make sure I block the sender and
then delete the email unopened. Today, I got back a mailer daemon sent by a
spam email I deleted unopened. How do I keep spam from sending confirms home
to the spamer?

I completely turn off sending read receipts. I believe there is also an
option to pop up a window asking permission to send them, if you absolutely
need to be sending to some senders.

There is some anecdotal evidence that a recent Office update may have
enabled the sending of "not read" receipts despite the receipt settings on
Outlook. From what I've read, a bug report was files with Microsoft.

Using the Blocked Sender list is a very poor way, indeed, to control spam.
