How do I stop the error message of Outlook not closing properly?

I think I am closing Outlook normally, but frequently when I open it up
again, it tells me it is checking the data & that it might not have closed
properly. What am I doing wrong?

I am having the same issue, Alos I have a problem with email not
downloading in a timely way. I have checked the speed of my download
connection and it is 2780 KBS. Are the two issues related?

if something keeps outlook open, it won't close properly and will need to
check the data store when you open it.

they could be related - if outlook doesn't close MAPI may hang or when MAPI
hangs, outlook won't close properly.

how often are you checking for new messages? Don't use less than every 8
min.

FYI: all of my "File did not close properly" error messages stopped
promptly after uninstalling Google Desktop Sidebar. I suspect that the
Google SB issue is only one of many that may cause this, and that it had
something to do with indexing the emails.
