How do I stop the envelope icon from appearing in certain conditio

Hi there. I use Outlook 2003 SP2. I'm subscribed to a mailing list that
generates a LOT of traffic, and I don't want to have all those messages
cluttering up my main Inbox. So I set up a rule to move all incoming mail
with a certain string in the subject line (the name of the mailing list) to a
different folder, where I can read it later.

This works fine, but the problem is that it still displays the envelope icon
in the notification area. I'd like to get rid of it, but ONLY for mail that's
moved to that folder; all other mail should still display the icon. I've
heard that marking new mail as Read will get rid of the icon, but I don't
want to do that -- I'll be going back and reading the moved emails later on,
and I need to remember which was the last one I read. I think it would work
if I changed the rule to automatically mark new mail as Read and then Unread
again, but I can't do that -- the Rules Wizard lets you mark new mail as
Read, but not Unread.

I've seen people here complaining that Outlook 2007 automatically blocks the
envelope icon for mail that gets moved to a folder, and they want to get it
back. I have just the opposite problem -- I WANT it to block the icon, but
don't know how!

Is there a way to do this? Any help would be appreciated.

You could disable the icon completely (in Advanced Email Options) but I
can't see a rule to enable it for everything else. I might have missed it -
see if you can locate it.
