How do I stop the autoformat function in Word?

Mainly the bulletize lists, indents, etc.

I turned it off for my program but when I open other's files, it's on all
over again. I wish Microsoft would default it off so we could turn it on
ourselves - if we want it..

Hi MSM

Tools > AutoCorrect Options. On the "Autoformat As You Type" tab, un-tick
everything unless you are confident that you know exactly what it does. For
me, that means un-ticking everything in the "Apply as you type" and the
"Automatically as you type" sections.

If that doesn't solve the problem, write back and let us know what version
of Word you're using, and what exactly are the symptoms you're seeing,

Hope this helps.
