How do I stop receiving repeats of the same email?

I have outlook 2003. Over the past few months I have been receiving repeats
of the same email. Not all emails I receive do this but the majority do. I
have contacted technical support from my isp but the problem isn't coming
from their end. They suggest it might be in the program or a virus. Can you
suggest where I can look to stop this happening. My inbox is getting clogged.

Disable email scanning if you use an AV or firewall, and increase your
send/receive interval to at least 10 minutes, more if you have multiple
accounts.
