How do I stop pop-ups

Hi,
never needed Windows Messenger; I don't use it and there
is a certain American company trying to flog me ByeByeAds
to stop THEIR OWN pop-ups from appearing on my PC!
Is there any way I can stop this or uninstall Messenger?

Hi there is a way to stop the pop-ups, just go to
Click to expand...
www.analogX.com and download Pow!, it kills all type of
pop-ups
