How do I stop outlook folders from expanding in the folders tree?

When a message arrives that is placed in a sub/child folder in the folders
tree the tree automatically expands to show all the sub-folders of the parent
with the unread message count next to the appropriate folder(s). I want my
tree to display only the parent folders until I expand them. How do I turn
off this auto-expand behavior? Thanks
